Fire Main Piping

Westscan’s water leak detection service for locating water leaks on fire mains using tracer gas.

A Non-compliance issue needed rectifying on a Commercial strata complex under construction in Landsdale, Perth WA. The Fire main piping and hose reel piping was installed by two separate contractors. When pressure testing was conducted on the fire main, it was identified to not be holding pressure. Westscan conducted ground penetrating radar to locate the route of the fire main piping. Once the piping route was confirmed tracer gas injection was initiated. Where pressure loss is of small volume at high pressure, tracer gas is an excellent tool.

The water leak / pressure loss was found to be on a loose-fitting end cap on the pre-laid fire hose reel red line poly piping. Repair work only required for the fitting to properly tightened.
